The five day Paro tshechu festival 2026 in Bhutan will be held at Rinpung dzong in Paro during the spring season. It is one of the most spectacular festivals in Bhutan and a major tourist attraction from around the world. On the first day, all mask dances are held inside the courtyard of Rinpung dzong. In subsequent days, the courtyard outside the dzong hosts the festival. You can witness the most prominent display of the world’s greatest Thanka on Bhutan Paro festival tour.

Day 1. Arrive Paro – Thimphu sightseeing | 54 km | Drive: 1 hour | Altitude: 2334 m.

Meet and greet at the Paro International Airport and drive to Thimphu.

A short stop on the way to view Tamchog monastery. Thang Tong Gyalpo, a Tibetan Lama popularly known as “The Iron bridge builder” built it in the year 1420. He built 108 bridges across Tibet and Bhutan and 8 were built in Bhutan.

Afternoon, visit to national memorial chorten built in honor of the third King, Late His Majesty Jigme Dorji Wangchuck. Then visit the tallest statue of sitting Buddha in the world at Kuensel Phodrang (51.5 m). Finally visit the craft bazaar where you can buy Bhutanese handicrafts and art works.

In the evening, visit to Tashichho dzong, seat of the national government and central monastic body.

Day 2. Thimphu sightseeing | Altitude: 2334 m.

In the morning, visit Changangkha lhakhang. This is the oldest temple in Thimphu valley built in the 13th century by Phajo Drugom Zhigpo. Then visit Takin preserve center (Takin is the national animal of Bhutan), Sangaygang view point and Dupthop lhakhang, one of the few surviving nunneries in Bhutan.

Lunch at Simply Bhutan, where you can enjoy typical Bhutanese dishes, Ara (local alcohol), witness folk dances and many more.

In the afternoon, visit postal museum where you can print your photos on the official Bhutanese stamps. Then visit painting school (The school of 13 arts and crafts).

In the evening, free to stroll in the town.

Day 3. Thimphu – Punakha sightseeing | 76 Km | Drive: 3 hours | Altitude: 1242 m.

In the morning, drive to Punakha, the ancient capital of Bhutan until the rule of second King of Bhutan.

We stop at Dochu la Pass (3140 m) with 108 chortens and enjoy the view of the Himalayas.

On the way, visit Chimi lhakhang built in 1499 by Lama Drukpa Kuenley, popularly known as “The divine madman”. The temple is also called “the temple of fertility”. He travelled throughout Bhutan and Tibet using songs and humor to dramatize his teachings of salvation through sex.

In the afternoon, visit the beautiful Punakha dzong built in 1637 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal.

In the evening, hike to the imperial Khamsum Yulley monastery. This monastery was built by Her Majesty the Queen Tshering Yangdon Wangchuck.

Day 4. Punakha – Gangtey sightseeing | 66 km | Drive: 2 hours | Altitude: 3000 m.

In the morning, drive to the beautiful valley of Gangtey and Phobjikha.

On the way, we take a view the Wangdue Phodrang dzong built in 1638 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal.

While in Gangtey, visit Gangtey Gompa monastery built in 1613 by Gyaltse Pema Thinley. Then visit the crane information center.

In the evening, explore the beautiful Phobjikha valley, the roosting ground of the rare black necked cranes in winter.

Day 5. Gangtey – Thimphu sightseeing | 143 km | Drive: 4 hours | Altitude: 2334 m.

In the morning, drive to Thimphu. We occasionally stop on the way to take pictures.

After lunch, visit to royal textile museum and then witness archery match at Changlimithang stadium.

In the evening, explore Thimphu town.

Day 6. Thimphu – Paro sightseeing | 54 km | Drive: 1 hour | Altitude: 2200 m.

In the morning, drive to Paro and witness the Bhutan Paro tshechu festival and visit Rinpung Dzong.

After lunch, witness Paro festival. Then visit Ta dzong, the national museum of Bhutan.

In the evening, visit to a Bhutanese farm house to see a typical Bhutanese way of life.

Day 7. Paro sightseeing – Bhutan Paro festival tour | Altitude: 2200 m.

After breakfast, witness the Bhutan Paro tshechu festival 2026 (Full day).

In the evening, free to stroll in the town for shopping and photography.

After breakfast, witness the Bhutan Paro tshechu festival (Full day).

In the evening, excursion to the Cheli la pass (3988 m). You can enjoy the spectacular view of the Himalayas including Mt. Jomolhari.

Day 9. Paro sightseeing – Hike to the Tiger’s nest monastery | 7 Km | Hike: 4 hours.

In the morning, hike to the Tiger’s nest monastery (Paro Taktsang) built in 1684 by Gyaltse Tenzin Rabgay.

Then visit Drugyal dzong built in 1647 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal. Finally we visit Kichu lhakhang built in 659 A.D by the Tibetan King Srongtsen Gampo.

In the evening, free to stroll in the town.

Day 10. Paro – Departure (End of Paro festival 2026 tour):

Early morning at 3 am drive to Paro dzong and witness the Throngdroel ceremony which is the main event of the Bhutan Paro festival tour.

Then drive to the airport and farewell.
